Memories from Liverpool University

Created by Clive 3 years ago
I have fond memories of Ajit from my days as a fellow Ph.D. student; part of a small group dealing with arcing-phenomena at the University of Liverpool (1960-1964). Ajit and I shared laboratory space for at least two of those rather intense years. Friendship and shared enthusiasm among the group members were critical to our successful pursuit of advanced degrees, and I certainly appreciated Ajit’s presence; for his sharing of technical knowledge, for his philosophical approach to life, his abundant good nature, the twinkle in his eyes and his ready smile. On graduation, I moved to America. However, we stayed in contact via Christmas letters, occasional visits and, more recently, via email. And during the past 56 years my wife and I came to know Tripti and their children: As well as being an accomplished educator Ajit was obviously a dedicated family man. I’m saddened to say farewell to my valued friend: It was a privilege to have known him.    Clive Kimblin, Pittsburgh, PA
